What people are saying about Finestra Wines

Respected wine critics Gary Walsh from the Winefront and Ned Goodwin MW have written to following reviews of the wines we currently have on offer:

dalla mia Finestra Cabernet Sauvignon: 2017 “It has perfume, but also a sort of earthy dried herb gravitas, blackcurrant and redcurrant. Medium-bodied, firm dense tannin, a little vanilla and tobacco, and a long and defined finish. Gee, they’ve delivered a beauty in 2017.  Get into it. 94 Points”

dalla mia Finestra Chardonnay 2017 “Grapefruit, white peach, a minor amount of cedar oak and spice. It’s pithy and zesty, zing of grapefruity acidity through some softer tangy yoghourt-like characters. Finish is pulpy, flinty, satisfying, and full of freshly cut, only-just-ripe pineapple. Certainly tastes of Yarra Valley, and what a bargain it is too. 93 Points”

dalla mia Finestra Pinot Noir 2018 “A twiggy, savoury pinot, of a charming, old school predilection. 100% MV6; 30% whole bunch. Woodsy truffled scents and sarsaparilla melded to sour cherry. Firmly boned following 18 months in a combination of French oak of various moulds. 92 Points.”

dalla mia Finestra Shiraz 2018 “Shiraz does well in the Yarra Valley, this from Coldstream, and I guess there will be a bit of ‘from my window’ happening in coming weeks/months. To paraphrase Redgum “God help us, it was COVID-19”. Australian’s are a plucky lot, so hopefully we’ll all pull through together.

Rich dark fruit and plum, spice, vanilla, dark chocolate. It’s medium-bodied, dense and smooth, a sweet and lush uptake of fruit laden with spice and perfume, so supple, and pulls a bit savoury on a long and deep finish. This is the best Finestra Shiraz to date, I feel. 94 Points”
